Canton would like to assure all residents and business owners that we take the safety of our water supply system very seriously.
Each year, Canton issues a Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) that gives a detailed analysis about where Canton’s water comes from and the treatment process it goes through. It also gives consumers detailed information about the quality of their drinking water. After July 1, the water report can be found at www.cantonmi.org/CantonWaterReport.
If you have any questions, please call Canton’s Division of Public Works at 734/397-1011.
As part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, Canton received funds that can be used to provide rental assistance and help towards mortgage payments for those residents who qualify.
While the additional Canton funds are only to be used for rent and mortgage assistance, Wayne Metro Community Action Agency is administering a variety of other CARES Relief and Recovery services.
For more information on those services, please visit www.waynemetro.org/CARES or call Wayne Metro at 313/388-9799.

Dear Neighbors,
I hope you are enjoying the great weather we are having. Just a reminder that COVID is still among us and Canton has now surpassed 20,000 cases since March of 2020. You can still receive vaccinations at local pharmacies. There are also vulnerable residents who are feeling isolated due to COVID, and the current uptick – if you have a neighbor that lives alone, or is elderly, check in on them to see if they need assistance.
Our permit requests are also increasing – please be patient as our teams are working hard to get to all of their inspections.
I hope to see you outdoors soon at the Juneteenth and Liberty Fest celebrations, our outdoor markets or Thursday night concerts. Come on over and say hello!
The Canton Police Department would like to remind everyone rollerblading, jogging, or walking, and particularly those pushing strollers, to use the sidewalk. Too often, individuals may be injured or killed while walking or riding in the street. If a sidewalk is not available, pedestrians should walk on the left side of the street, facing traffic. Bicyclists should always ride with the flow of traffic.
For further information, please call the Police Department at 734/394-5400.
Canton’s Planning Division has begun the process of updating the community’s Master Plan. Part of that process includes a variety of public engagement events and activities scheduled throughout the 12-18 month process. Events coming up in June, include:
1. Comment boards will be set up at Township facilities (Administration building, Library, Summit, BLOCK, The Village Theater, etc.). Stop by and give us your thoughts!
2. Members of Planning staff and planning consultants will be attending Liberty Fest and will have a booth set up. Make sure to stop by to chat with us and maybe score some swag!
Be sure to visit www.canton-mi.org/masterplan often for other public engagement events and activities. In the coming months, we will have educational videos, drop-in Zoom chats, and surveys. We will also be attending several community events such as the Summer Concert Series, Pride OUTside, and Rally on Ridge.
If you’re interested in serving on the Master Plan Advisory Board, visit www.canton-mi.org/masterplan and fill out the online application.
For those wishing to be added to our email list to receive regular email updates, or if you have any questions or comments throughout the process, email masterplan@canton-mi.org.
Next month, all curbside recycling participants will receive a new sticker to place on their recycling cart.
The sticker will have a QR code that will take you directly to www.canton-mi.org/230. This page contains an up-to-date list of what is and is not acceptable in your curbside recycling cart. We encourage residents to scan this code often so contaminated items do not end up in your cart.
This sticker is 4” x 6” and weather-proof. If you have questions about Canton’s curbside program, please email municipalservices@canton-mi.org.
Canton Club 55+ offers “Happy Hello” calls to area seniors, where volunteers call to check in on individuals and to discuss available programs and services. This free service can offer peace of mind for those home alone. To sign up for the Happy Hello program, call Club 55+ at 734/394-5485.

To reduce your chances of becoming a victim of theft from your vehicle, the Canton Police Department is advising residents to take the following simple precautions:
• Always lock your parked vehicle—in driveways, streets, and parking lots
• Don’t leave valuables in your parked vehicle
• If you observe suspicious activity occurring around parked vehicles, call 911
If you’ve been the victim of a theft, call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 734/394-5400.
With golf season underway, we ask anyone other than golf course patrons to refrain from entering Canton’s golf course properties. Walkers and joggers often think to use golf course cart paths as trails for exercise, which could in fact be very dangerous. Unauthorized persons entering Pheasant Run Golf Club property will be approached and asked to leave for their own safety. Violators may be subject to prosecution. Canton has plenty of walking paths and trails within close proximity that offer a great change of scenery. For trail information, please visit www.cantonfun.org.
Area residents are invited to attend Canton’s Summer Palooza on Thursday, June 23 from 7 - 9 p.m. at the Heritage Park South Pavilions, located behind the Canton Administration Building at 1150 S. Canton Center Road. Come enjoy music, summer games, and fun for all ages. No pre-registration is required for this free event. To learn more, visit www.cantonfun.org
Due to redistricting, your polling location has changed. To find out where your new voting location is, please visit www.canton-mi.org/vote to view our interactive map. Please note that all voters will receive a new Voter Information Card in the mail letting them know where their new location is.
All Canton voters on the Automatic Absentee Application List have received an application for the August and November election. These can be returned through the mail or by putting them in the Drive-Up Drop Box in the rear parking lot of the Administration Building.
Live music and delicious eats will fill the air of Canton’s Heritage Park when the Thursday Night Live Concert Series, sponsored by Community Financial Credit Union, returns starting June 30. Future concerts will be held every Thursday through August 18 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. in the Heritage Park Amphitheater, located behind the Canton Administration Building, 1150 Canton Center S. Concerts will begin at 7 p.m. with cultural pre-entertainment at 6:30 p.m. No concert will be held on July 7.
June’s concert features a performance by the PCEP Step Team and Class of ‘98 headlines with hits from the ‘90s and early 2000s. All concerts are weather dependent. Participants are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket and enjoy the sounds of summer.
For additional information, please visit www.cantonfun.org.
Canton’s annual River Day celebration will be combined with National Trails Day and hosted by Canton’s Municipal Services and Leisure Services Departments. The joint celebration will take place, rain or shine, on Saturday, June 4, from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the Lower Rouge River Recreational Trailhead, located off Morton Taylor Road and Michigan Avenue.
